The Thunder
IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE DISPENSER OF GRACE[13:12]
HE IT IS who displays before you the lightning, to give rise to [both] fear and hope, and calls heavy clouds into being;

* v.12 :I.e., hope of rain, which in the Qur’ān frequently symbolizes faith and spiritual life. With this verse, the discourse returns to the theme enunciated at the beginning of this sūrah (verses 2-4): namely, to the evidence of a consciously devised plan and purpose inherent in all nature and, thus, of the existence of God.
